What We've Done So Far

Removing Barriers. Creating Access. Changing Outcomes.

At BMP Momentum, we measure

impact by one primary unit: children served.
Our mission is simple but strategic: remove the barriers that prevent rural Jamaican students from accessing education, and track the results with clarity and accountability.

School Transportation

Safe, Reliable Access to Education

Before BMP’s transportation program, many students walked up to two hours each way to reach school. Weather, distance, and safety risks led to chronic absenteeism.

  • 100% of Shirley Castle students now have access to school transportation

  • Attendance remains consistently above 90%

  • Approximately 60% of students would be unable to attend school without bus access

  • Remaining students reduce commute time by 35 to 45 minutes daily

Meals & Nutrition

Fueling Focus and Academic Performance

Food insecurity is one of the most common barriers to learning in rural Jamaica. For many students, school meals are their most reliable source of daily nutrition.

  • Now 100% of students receive breakfast and lunch at school

  • Over 50% rely on school meals as their primary nutrition source

  • Students are now able to focus consistently throughout the school day

Medical Clinics & Preventative Care

Closing the Healthcare Gap

Rural communities in the Blue Mountains have limited access to specialized medical services. Many families delay care due to distance or cost.

  • Now every Shirley Castle student receives a pediatric evaluation

  • 150 to 250 additional community members are served each year

  • Volunteer physicians provide care across multiple specialties

  • Preventative education and follow up resources are also distributed

School Supplies & Educational Resources

Equipping Students for Success

In Jamaica, public education does not eliminate all school related costs. Families are responsible for uniforms, books, and classroom supplies.

  • Students begin the school year prepared and confident

  • Classrooms are equipped with supplemental learning materials

  • Educational resources support both academic and creative development

Supplemental & Infrastructure Initiatives

Strengthening the School Environment

  • Campus improvements and restoration projects

  • Kitchen and facility upgrades

  • Classroom enhancement initiatives

  • Emergency hurricane relief and rebuilding efforts

  • Community strengthening programs

COVID 19 Relief & Community Support

During the COVID 19 pandemic, rural communities in Jamaica faced heightened economic strain and food insecurity.

  • Supporting families with essential supplies

  • Assisting the school in maintaining stability during disruptions

  • Helping bridge gaps caused by economic shutdowns

Hurricane Relief & Crisis Response

When Hurricane Melissa devastated parts of Jamaica, BMP donors mobilized quickly.

  • Thousands of families were impacted across the island

  • BMP raised nearly $15,000 to support immediate relief

  • Resources were directed toward food, rebuilding, and stabilization
